September 30, 2008 was a day that I will never forget. It was my wedding anniversary, my second career was just getting underway, and the day that I received my diagnosis. With the love of my husband, 4 children, special friends, close family members, amazing nurses and doctors at the London Cancer Clinic, and the distraction of some very sweet little piano students, I feel that this difficult time was made much easier. Afterwards, as so many survivors do, I wanted to continue with an active lifestyle! As part of this, a very dear friend of mine, who is also a breast cancer survivor, suggested we try joining Rowbust, a breast cancer survivor dragon boat racing team, which I have now been a member for 10 years. Although cancer is not something I would ever have wanted, I feel that my life is healthier now. I am extremely thrilled to be able to take part as a Runner of Hope this year and help Theresa with her amazing cause, especially to support Wellspring, which I’m so grateful to have used a number of times during my treatment.
